About the NTRI

emergency sceneThe National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI) undertakes research into the care of injured people.  It has a national and international focus. It is closely associated with Australia's largest trauma service at The Alfred, the Victorian State Trauma System, and Monash University.

The NTRI champions an integrated research model that promotes collaboration between laboratory scientists, clinical researchers, policy-makers and injured people.

The NTRI improves care of the injured through:

  1. More effective treatments discovered in laboratory and clinical research;
  2. Higher quality care driven by reviews and guidelines, tailored practice improvement initiatives, and outcomes research; and
  3. Better trauma systems developed in collaboration with governments, health care organisations, clinicians and the community.
